Road Signs

During a terrible storm, all the highway signs were covered with snow.
The following spring, the state decided to raise all the signs twelve
inches at a cost of six million dollars. "That's an outrageous price!
said a local farmer, "but I guess we're lucky the state handled it
instead of the federal government. "Why's that?

"Because knowing the federal government, they'd decided to lower the
highways.

3d movies bad for you

We knew it: 3-D films are trying to kill you with migraines and crappy vision. A new study proves the relationship between 3-D and headaches. But will this stop Hollywood's slate of 32 (and counting) upcoming 3-D films?

A study at the University of California Berkeley found that 3-D movies can cause eyestrain along with headaches. Apparently, 3-D doesn't allow our eyes to "follow the rules" because we're busy focusing on things both far and near at the same time, hence the headaches and blurred vision. Professor Martin Banks explained this to VOA Health.
"You're taking that normal relationship which has been coupled in the brain for years and you're changing it. And what we showed is that can cause fatigue."

TV complaints files with the FCC

Fox garners nearly half of all indecency complaints filed to the FCC, according to a new study by SNL Kagan.

The study found 48% of viewers complaints are directed at Fox programming, followed by CBS (18.6%), ABC (18.4%), NBC (14.5%) and the CW (.5%).

Probably not coincidentally, that's also the usual ranking of the broadcast networks' popularity with young adults.

A "Family Guy" episode from March 2009 is responsible for the most complaints -- 188,368. In the episode, Stewie drinks horse semen instead of milk.

Also in the study, CNN, surprisingly, topped the list among cable networks as drawing the most complaints.

The study notes that while complaints filed against broadcast networks are directed at offensive content, much of the cable complaints are about objections to political material.

One quasi-exception: In the No. 2 position are complaints filed against the term "tea-bagging" on news programs.
